We've heard your comments and we want to let you know we are working hard on getting the northern end of the coastal track in Queen Elizabeth Park realigned as soon as possible. We wanted to be extra sure that the work we do wasn't going to impact the environment around the track, which meant delays in getting things kicked off. We need the right conditions now to do the work and so we will have to wait until after summer. We are really sorry about the delay but we want to do the work correctly and at the right time so we don't have to spend more money and time fixing things again later. We will keep you all updated as we get things moving! Thanks for your patience!
We’ve got an update on the Wainui Stream slip in Queen Elizabeth Park. This stream is regionally significant with a good population of native fish. Because of this we are working with specialists to ensure the stream bank repairs are done in a way that reduces any impact on them. We are in the process of getting a consent to allow repairs in early 2020. We have to wait until then so we minimise any impact on the breeding season of the fish in the stream.
Thanks for your patience, we will keep you updated as we go and in the meantime, please continue to be careful on this track.
For any inquiries please contact one of the Queen Elizabeth Park Rangers on 0800 496 734.
The Mackays Crossing entrance to Queen Elizabeth Park will be closed for Friday 30 August for routine roadworks. In the meantime, check out the park using the Raumati or Paekakariki entrances. The park entrance will be open again on Saturday 31 August.
We apologise for the inconvenience, for more information call 021667321.
Due to a leak on the main bore, there is currently no water available to the toilets at the Ramaroa building and the toilets near the beach. This will be repaired by Friday but in the meantime there will be three portaloos available to use in the park. These will be located at Ramaroa and near the beach. The park is not effected at the Raumati South and Paekākāriki ends. Sorry for any inconvience!
Wood from the tree felling at Mackays Crossing will be available for public collection at 8am on Saturday 20 July. This will be available on a first come, first served basis so set your alarms and get here early! The wood will be available to collect from the Tramways carpark. It is already chopped and ready to go and no cutting will be permitted on site so please leave any chainsaws at home.
We’re getting things started for the new and improved park entrance in Queen Elizabeth Park!
To kick things off we are removing some old, sick exotic trees near the tram car park. This gives us an opportunity to prevent any trees from falling down unexpectedly and keep our visitors safe.
Works to do this will start on Monday 15 July and will take about a week to complete. You’ll still be able to get in through all the park entrances and no work will happen over the weekend. We just ask that you keep away from the worksite to keep yourself safe.
Keep an eye on this page for future updates as the work for our new park entrance and carpark continues.
