Yes, consent processing is happening as per usual. Following guidelines from the Ministry of Health, the Greater Wellington Regional Council offices have closed to the public, and all office based staff are working from home. Our Resource Advisors are equipped to continue processing Resource Consent applications throughout the lockdown period.

Our Contact Centre is still operating during the lockdown period, which you can reach on 0800 496 734. However, call volumes are higher than usual due to our offices being closed. For this reason email is recommended for non-urgent inquiries.
We are accepting resource consent applications electronically throughout the lockdown period. You can email these through to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Consent fees will have no change in price during this period, but are currently only being accepted online via internet banking. Find out more information on this process.
We are very conscious that Covid-19 has placed financial stress on many individuals and businesses, and we are doing our best to keep costs down when possible.

We understand that this is not business as usual for most people, and we are taking a pragmatic approach to compliance monitoring during COVID-19. You will not be penalised if you have a valid reason for not meeting consent conditions during lockdown.
If your activities could cause serious environmental harm, we expect that you will continue to monitor and maintain your activity during lockdown. For example, erosion and sediment controls at a number of sites in the region still need to be maintained. The Ministry for the Environment has provided some helpful guidance on this.

Yes, monitoring charges still apply and continue to be sent from our finance team. Annual invoices for activities such as boatsheds, swing mooring, and agricultural effluent will also be issued to consent holders shortly.
Yes, the 24/7 Environment Hotline is open on 0800 496 734. However, we have changed our response to incidents to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
We are currently triaging all reported incidents based on urgency, and will respond to non-urgent incidents when reasonably possible under the guidelines from the Ministry of Health. Find out more information on the changes to this response.
We will only physically attend and respond to the most significant incidents where there are immediate and serious risks to the environment or human health.
